First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu urged development partners, private companies, non-governmental organizations, and academic institutions to unite behind the Partnership to Eliminate Cervical Cancer in Nigeria, a national campaign launched at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja to eliminate the preventable yet deadly disease by 2030. Emphasizing that cervical cancer remains the second most common cancer among Nigerian women, the First Lady highlighted previous milestones, including the protection of over 12 million girls through the Human Papillomavirus vaccine rollout, and pledged one billion naira from her Renewed Hope Initiative to support expanded screening, treatment, and primary healthcare infrastructure. In response, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, representing the Nigeria Governors' Forum, pledged state-level policy support and funding, while health leaders including Professor Isaac Adewole and Zainab Shinkafi-Bagadu affirmed that the initiative will drive multi-sectoral collaboration to protect women across rural and underserved communities in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's healthcare agenda.
