The crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party has escalated to the Board of Trustees as the faction loyal to acting National Chairman Umar Damagum reportedly backed by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, and Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas moves to replace critical board members and consolidate control, drawing sharp criticism from Board of Trustees Chairman and former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, who insists that a long-delayed National Executive Committee meeting must finally be held by February to resolve leadership issues, even as other figures like National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, Deputy National Youth Leader Timothy Osadolor, and former Senator Iyorchia Ayu remain central to the ongoing political struggle.
