APC Retains Dominant Majority in Senate, Boost in House of Reps

The All Progressives Congress, maintains a solid majority in the Senate with sixty-three seats and has also strengthened its numbers in the House of Representatives through recent defections from opposition parties, despite losing a few members to deaths, court rulings, and transitions to state government positions such as Senator Monday Okpebholo becoming the governor of Edo State and the passing of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah while the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party holds thirty-four Senate seats, the Labour Party has seen its membership decline due to defections and court losses, and other smaller parties hold the remaining seats, leaving a few legislative positions temporarily vacant while the Independent National Electoral Commission prepares to schedule by-elections to fill them.
