Insecurity in North: Poverty, Unemployment to Blame —Abdusalami

Former Nigerian Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar stated that northern insecurity stems from poverty, unemployment, weapon proliferation, weak governance, and climate change, while urging citizens to unite with security forces because national safety is everyone's responsibility; meanwhile, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris noted that porous borders with conflict ridden Sahelian nations expose Nigeria to security spillovers, though the government is successfully tackling the crisis through strengthened military capabilities, including the recent acquisition of twelve aircraft to enhance armed forces operations over the past sixteen months.
