Communities Demand Action as Lakurawa Teams Up With Bandits

Communities in the North-Western part of Nigeria are urgently calling on the Federal Government and security forces to eliminate the Lakurawa terrorist group following reports that the sect has formed an alliance with local bandits to expand their camps and intensify attacks, resulting in recent killings and cattle rustling in states like Kebbi and Sokoto. While regional state governments have denied knowledge of this collaboration and highlighted ongoing joint efforts with community guards and the military, residents continue to express deep fear over escalating violence. Meanwhile, the Chief of Defence Staff has strongly reaffirmed the military's commitment to eradicating these criminal elements within the next two years, emphasizing regional cooperation across the Sahel while firmly rejecting the establishment of foreign military bases or intervention in Nigeria.
