ASUP Gives 15-Day Ultimatum to FG over 7-Point Demand

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, led by President Comrade Shamnah Kpanja, issued a 15-day ultimatum starting October 7, 2024, threatening to launch a nationwide strike across public polytechnics if the federal government and state proprietors fail to resolve their longstanding grievances. Following its 111th National Executive Council meeting in Abuja, the union condemned the National Board for Technical Education for usurping academic board responsibilities regarding Higher National Diploma admissions, while demanding an immediate review of polytechnic schemes of service, the release of the second tranche of NEEDS Assessment intervention funds, implementation of approved salary increases with arrears, and full adherence to the Federal Polytechnics Act.
