At the first international conference hosted in Abuja by the News Agency of Nigeria on violence in the Sahel region, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris affirmed that the federal government remains dedicated to ending national insecurity under President Bola Tinubu's agenda by expanding investments in military equipment, manpower, and intelligence gathering. Mohammed Idris explained that porous borders expose the nation to regional threats like terrorism and weapons smuggling, emphasizing the necessity of strengthening joint military operations with neighboring countries. The event brought together prominent leaders and officials, including former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar, guest speaker Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu representing President Bola Tinubu, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, Katsina State Governor Alhaji Umar Dikko Radda, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, and Minister of Steel Development Alhaji Shuaibu Abubakar.
