Obaseki: I forgive Shaibu’s ‘aberrant behaviour’

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has accepted a public apology from his deputy, Philip Shaibu, following months of feuding. Obaseki acknowledged that to err is human and to forgive is divine. He spoke in Benin, but was silent on whether he would allow Shaibu to return to his official office. Obaseki acknowledged that Shaibu's behavior contradicted the people of Edo State, including filing unfounded petitions in Nigerian courts, restraining the State House of Assembly from an impeachment process, and repeatedly breaching protocol. He urged Shaibu to improve his conflict-resolution skills and urged his proxies to act in accordance with his piety.
