The department is responsible for the following:

1. Providing efficient financial services through the implementation of board's decision
2. Application of Government Financial regulations
3. Formulation financial rules and procedures
4. Instituting proper internal controls
5. Preparing and making payment
6. Receiving revenues
7. Preparing budget
8. Ensuring proper maintenance of accounting records

The department comprises of two divisions:

1. Finance Division
2. Accounts Division
