The Ebonyi state branch of the National Library of Nigeria in collaboration with the Human Right Commission and the Fountain of Knowledge International School Abakaliki, jointly commemorated the International Women's Day where top 10 women who were prominent key players in the education sector in the state for the year 2022 were honoured.
The Head of Branch, Mrs Ifeoma Obi among other women was honoured for promoting the vision of the National Library of Nigeria in the state: to connect and build an informed citizenry especially at the grassroot.
The Head of Human Rights Commission in the state, Amb. Dr. Chinenye, who conferred the award on behalf of the commission stated that the award was in recognition of the positive impact created through the Annual Readership Promotion Campaign organized by the NLN in the state.
In the same vein, the Kaduna state branch also commemorated the IWD in a grand style.
The Head of Branch, Mrs Martina Egwuibe and other reputable women in the state took turns to speak on the theme of this year's celebration: _DigitAll: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equity. Messages were targeted at women and young girls indulging them to be innovative and advance in areas of technology which will will promote gender equality.
Participants, drawn from four schools with their teachers and other special guests were taken round the exhibition corner at the premises of the National Library Kaduna, where books, newspapers, magazines and other educational resources written by women, about women and for women were neatly displayed. Story and educational books were also shared to the participants.
International Women's Day is commemorated annually on 8th March to celebrate outstanding women who have contributed to the course of womanhood and has championed the development of humanity in general.Â
