The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), National Library of Nigeria (NLN), Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi has been awarded a fellowship, by the Nigerian Library Association, which also appointed her its brand Ambassador.
The award and investiture were both done during a dinner held at the National Defence College, Abuja on Saturday 30th September 2023 which according to the organizers, is targeted at honouring members who have contributed immensely to the Association’s growth.
Describing the dinner awards as “a flagship event going forwardâ€, the NLA President, Pastor Dominic Omokaro, said it was the first of its kind, as NLA awardees were usually honoured during its Annual General Meeting (AGM). The appointment of NLA Brand Ambassadors was an innovation of the current executive to help propagate the ideals of the profession and to always attract positive public response towards the profession.
Whilst commending the awardees for their passion, unwavering dedication, outstanding contributions and innovations which has not only enriched Library Information Service (LIS), but also inspired others, Omokaro urged all the association’s members to reflect on the profound impact that recognizes excellence. He further stated that, Awards are not merely symbols of achievements but are beacons of inspiration to all.
Reacting to the award, Prof. Anunobi who spoke on behalf of all awardees noted that “it was a dream come true†and thanked the NLA for making it a reality. She further pledged to continuously uphold the principles of the Nigeria Library Association in particular, and the Library and Information profession in general.
Those were also conferred with the Fellowship on the same day included Dr. Module Aboyade, Dr. Nkem Osuigwe, Dr. Adetoun Oyelude. Others are, Alhaji Jafar Wase, Dr. Gladys Onyia, Prof. Roseline Echezona. On the other hand, Akogun Lanre Adesuyi, Hajia Neemat Abdulrahim, Prof. A Adetoro, Alhaji Jafaru Wase and Dr. Justina A Kotso were appointed brand ambassadors alongside Prof. Anunobi.
