A regular reader at the Akwa-Ibom state branch of the National Library of Nigeria, John Obot has set a new Guinness World Record in marathon read-aloud which lasted for 145 hours.
John Obot, whose successful attempt to beat the previous record of 124 hours set in 2022 by Rysbai Isakov was held public in Uyo from 9th to 15th September 2023 is a familiar reader who frequents the Akwa-Ibom state branch of the National library of Nigeria in Uyo.
The Head of Branch, Mrs. Helen Alfred Ebi who was present during new record holder’s session commended Mr. Obot for his endurance and tenacity during the reading practice at the Akwa Ibom State branch, stating that the Branch supported Mr. Obot’s journey by providing him with all the materials he asked for including books and serials.   Â
She also expressed satisfaction with John Obot's dedication and the depth of his knowledge and willingness to achieve this remarkable feat.
