The Lagos Branch recently played host to the Ambassador of Ireland to Nigeria, Ambassador Peter Ryan who was accompanied by Mrs Aduke Gomez, a prolific writer of children's books. 

Mr. Ryan who was received by the Head of Branch, Mrs Obianuju Onuorah, was taken round the different sections of the library especially the newly established Green Library. He was highly impressed by the beauty and ambience of the children's library and the entire library environment which he said was very conducive for reading. He promised to donate more children's books and would like to see a replica of the Green Library in other branches of the National Library of Nigeria.
